There are two helpful tourist offices in town: at Jl WR Supratman 39 (Mon-Thurs 7am-3pm, Fri 7am-noon & 1-3pm; tel 0721/482565), and the Depparpostel, above the main post office at Jl KHA Dahlan 21 (same times; tel 0721/251900).

The post office is at Jl KHA Dahlan 21; the main Telkom office is at Jl Kartini 1 and there's also a 24hr wartel at Jl Majapahit 14. The Immigration office is at Jl Diponegoro 24 (tel 0721/482607). Local hospitals include Rumah Sakit Bumi Waras, Jalan Wolter Moginsidi (tel 0721/263851), Rumah Sakit Immanuel Way Halim, Jalan Sukarno Hatta B (tel 0721/704900), and Rumah Sakit Abdul Muluk, Jalan Kapten Rivai (tel 0721/702455).
