The
airport at Ende is just north of Ipi harbour on Jalan Jenderal Achmad Yani; any bemos will take you into town. Buses from the west arrive at the
Ndao bus terminal , which is on the beach, about 2km west of the very centre of town; bemos meet every bus. Buses from the east pull into
Wolowana terminal , situated at the extreme east of town and a five-kilometre bemo ride from central Ende.
Moving on , a bus for Bajawa, Ruteng and Labuhanbajo leaves the Ndao bus terminal at 6am, with a second bus to Ruteng at 5pm. Buses for Moni (6am-2pm; Rp2500), Maumere (8am-5pm; Rp5000) and Larantuka leave from the Wolowana terminal. There's also usually one passenger truck to Moni from here later in the afternoon.
Ipi harbour on the southeastern coast of the peninsula is used for all long-distance boats : the ferry and harbour master's offices are on the road that leads down to the harbour. The Pelni ferry KM Wilis stops here on its Waingapu-Sabu-Rote-Kupang route . The Pelni office is at the junction of Jalan Kathedral and Jalan Yos Sudarso. There's also a ferry which does a constant loop: Ende-Waingapu-Savu-Waingapu-Ende-Kupang-Ende. It leaves from Ipi harbour for Waingapu every Wednesday at 7pm (12hr), and goes to Kupang every Thursday and Saturday (16hr).
The losmen, banks and restaurants are widely dispersed, so you'll probably end up using the bemo kota (town bemos) fairly liberally. The best exchange rates are available at the BNI, which is past the airport on Jalan Gatot Subroto, a continuation of Jalan Achmad Yani. The more central BRI is next door to the Dwi Putra Hotel on Jalan Yos Sudarso, and the Danamon bank (best for credit-card transactions) is behind it on Jalan Sukarno. The Merpati office is on Jalan Nangka (closed Wed & Sat).
